Transition from school to enrichment program: Students are dismissed directly to their enrichment locations where Instructors should be ready to meet them. Students in CASA will first report to the Cafeteria/Gym before heading to their enrichment locations. Instructors are required to bring paper rosters to each class. Winter 2020 Class Descriptions Cheer Fit - Cheer Fit Cheer Fit, led by Amy Sergi, will be holding a CHEERLEADING session this session. The cheerleading routine will consist of tumbling, stunting, jumping, dancing, and much, much, more! At the end of the session we will have a cheerleading show where the parents can come watch what their child has learned in the class. Crazy Concoctions - Steam Kidz Lab Have you ever dreamed of being a chemist? Do you enjoy making wild and wacky concoctions? Crazy Concoctions Class is just the place to begin your adventure into the world of chemical reactions. Young scientists will make pretend potions, amazing color-changing reactions, foamy fountains, frothy explosions, tie-dye bandanas, crystals and lava. Through hands-on investigation, we will explore pH, chemical and physical changes, density, precipitates, exothermic reactions, acid-base reactions, and so much more! Glee Club - Piano Keys 4 Kids The Glee Club is a vocal ensemble open to all elementary aged students that enriches interest in music, singing, and performing. This is a fun atmosphere in which the students are encouraged to be confident in expressing their unique and amazing creativity! Throughout the enrichment session, members of the Glee Club will learn to sing age-appropriate and modern pop and Broadway music. While practicing the music, members will learn about healthy vocal technique, as well as music theory concepts such as rhythm and introductory music reading. They will also learn some easy movements to accompany the music. At the end of the session, the Glee Club will perform their songs for friends and family. No audition required and all ages are welcome! Astronaut Training and Legos - Steam Kidz Lab Kids will enter our Astronaut Training Academy and prepare for a manned mission to Mars. Each class features both hands on science activities and a Lego building activity to explore space travel, rockets, animals in space, robots, space weather, planetary geology, stars and lots more. Class ends with an astronaut picnic on our Martian colony! Educational value: Creative thinking, design, teamwork, astronomy, engineering, geology, meteorology, chemistry, physics and math. Game Design - Arcade Action! - Silver Knights Enrichment Design your own arcade-style games in this fun club. Using Scratch 3 digital tools, create your own racing games, chase games and classic arcade games like pong, tank, and snake! Use the Silver Knights curriculum to learn how to code and then take your game to the next level with avatars, scores, health points, intros and outros! Game on! KidzArt - KidzArt Whether your child is a budding Michelangelo or is still drawing stick figures, KidzArt will give them the skills and confidence to create artwork they are proud of. The KidzArt method of drawing instruction allows your child to learn many artist tricks and develop their own creativity. KidzArt is an extraordinary drawing program that introduces children to concepts such as proportion, perspective, dimension and shading. Starting with a blank canvas, the students will create a masterpiece to take home after every class. They learn to focus and break down complex drawings into individual components. You will be amazed at what your child comes home with each week! The young artists are exposed to a wide variety of mediums which may include oil and chalk pastels, watercolors, charcoal, vibrant markers, and clay. New curriculum in every session. KidzArt builds self-confidence, problem-solving skills and creativity in a fun non-competitive atmosphere. Artist quality supplies included. Chess - Silver Knights Enrichment Learn chess from a Silver Knights chess coach! State and national champions have come from our programs, but most of our students are just looking to have fun! Class time is split between lesson and play. Lessons range from learning the rules to advanced tournament strategies, depending on the student's skill level. Play time is structured to pair each student against an opponent of similar skill. All grades and skill levels are welcome. Silver Knights will supply all the equipment during chess club. Students will have the opportunity to play in tournaments. Cooking - iCook iCook is a really fun, hands-on after-school cooking program for children. Our mission is simple: to help teach children to love everything about food and cooking, eating delicious and healthful dishes, learning about different cultures and stories behind the food. Our chefs-in-training will learn how to make a variety of healthy, delicious and fun seasonal recipes. We will learn about herbs, spices and how they add flavor and aroma to the dishes. Our little chefs will travel to new countries and learn about their cuisines and cultures. We will master cooking safety, slicing, dicing, chopping, folding, baking, zesting, mixing and more. Yoga - Ignite Sports Ignite Sports Yoga is designed to teach kids the fun in fitness! From exciting exercise games, and Yoga poses/challenges, participants can have a blast while developing confidence, coordination, strength, fitness and relaxation! Each class is 60 minutes and includes both yoga and fitness!

There is always something new to be learned! Fairytale Fun with Language Arts and STEAM, Ms. Godard & Mr. Sukumar Hear ye, Hear ye, calling all magical scholars who enjoy story time and creating. Each week we will focus on a different fairytale and accompanying language arts and STEAM activities. Filmmaking - Fairfax Collegiate Students learn to plan, write, shoot, edit, and complete post-production on a digital video short film. Students learn about the basics of film, shot composition, scripting, storyboarding, and the pre-production phase of filmmaking. Students then move on to act out scripts and shoot the film using boom mics, and professional Panasonic DVX- 100 digital video cameras. Students edit their film using iMovie, add music and credits, complete postproduction, and export the film to a private Vimeo account for home viewing. Junior Master Chefs, Mr. Feist Learn to cook like a Master Chef, making delicious meals using fresh ingredients. We will create recipes from scratch, including Breakfast Cookery, Pancakes, Egg Casseroles, Fresh Pizza Dough, Soups, Salads, and fun decorated foods, like Banana Caterpillars, Dried Fruit Leather, and Apple-of-My-Eye Crisp. Students will learn knife skills, including how to chop, dice, and mince fresh herbs and vegetables. Students will hone their fine motor skills through hand building and glazing pottery while expressing their unique personal vision. The 3D medium will teach them to use problem solving skills to address form and structure. Mudskippers Pottery will bring their convenient mobile studio to your school with all the advantages of a professional studio.  Singing Lions, Ms. Gines Become "The Voice" of Cedar Lane by joining this dynamic group of performers. In this course, scholars will to learn how to put on a professional-grade show of singing and movement, with outside opportunities to perform at the Staff Basketball Game, 5th grade promotion and more! Fee includes T-shirt for new members. WeDo Robotics Club - Fairfax Collegiate  WeDo Robotics introduces young students to simple robotics systems in a fun and engaging way. Students will build LEGO models with functional motors and sensors, and learn how to control them with basic programming skills. Basic engineering concepts will be explored and a new robot model will be built and explored each class period. Returning students looking for additional WeDo robotics challenges will use an expanded construction set to build more complex mechanisms and robots, and use their innovation and critical thinking skills to engineer their own creative solutions to exciting challenges.

This is not your mother's PB&J! Chefs will prepare a variety of bite-sized munchies like chicken salad cups, homemade granola bars, veggie nachos, roasted red pepper hummus with homemade pita chips, and more. No one will go hungry this class! Elementary Debate Club - Fairfax Collegiate - $126 This course introduces elementary students to parliamentary debate. Debate topics are both challenging and directly relevant to students with a less rigid structure than standard parliamentary debate rules, allowing students to focus on skill-building and persuasive argumentation. Group exercises develop public speaking, critical reasoning, argument construction, rebuttal, and evidence presentation skills. Over a series of planned debates, students learn how to argue effectively and persuasively by using Aristotle's 3 appeals of rhetoric: Pathos (emotion), Ethos (authority and credibility) and Logos (logic.) Soccer & Floor Hockey Combo - All Kids Sports - $88 This class will focus on the fundamentals of Soccer & Floor Hockey. Dribbling, Passing, Trapping, Shooting, Stick Skills & Defensive moves. Kids will enjoy playing & learning in a safe & fun atmosphere that includes "warm up games"& "drill stations". Each Class ends with live Scrimmages. Lots of Cardio, Team Play & Good Sportsmanship! Each week classes will alternate between Soccer & Floor Hockey. Early Elementary Spanish - International School of Languages - $148 ISL provides a well-rounded Spanish program for those children in grades K-2 that are either starting to learn Spanish or would like to continue adding to their knowledge of Spanish. Apart from the language, children will learn some culture, and traditions where Spanish is spoken. During this program, students will be introduced to greetings and presentations, the alphabet, the family, the school, numbers, colors, shapes, sizes, animals, parts of the body and senses, professions, places in the city and many more! Students will learn hip hop dance technique including break dancing, popping and locking and freezes, as well as iconic hip hop movements including the moon walk, the cabbage patch, the kid in play, the snake, and more! Students collaborate and learn funky routines to some of the best beats around, and let their inner star shine through break dance battles and more. Additional emphasis on style, contemporary choreography, movement vocabulary, strengthening and conditioning, rhythm, personal expression, and having fun! Class culminates with a special performance for parents on the last day of the session where students will showcase 1-2 learned routines as well as other material learned throughout the session, and be presented with a certificate. Robotics Club, STEM exCEL STEM exCEL Robotics is designed for students looking to get started with robotics, and who are possibly interested in learning competitive robotics. In this course, students learn how to design, build, and program Lego Mindstorms EV3 robots by constructing and programming a robot. By applying engineering concepts as well as advanced sensor programming skills, students will perfect their design and programming to solve a variety of challenges. These engineering, design and programming concepts serve as a great stepping stone for students that have an interest in competing in robotics competitions such as First Lego League (FLL). Running Club, DTES PTA This running club is for any (boy, girl, student) in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade that is interested in getting fit while playing games and having fun! We will meet once a week and will culminate in running a 5k. Each week, we will focus on a guiding principle or characteristic that is vital to being a confident runner and important for leading a healthy lifestyle. Cartooning, Kids Create  Calvin & Hobbes, Spongebob Squarepants, Bugs Bunny and other cartoons come to life in this fun program. Learn tricks, tips and techniques on how to draw crazy cartoons just like the pros. Using simple methods with shapes and lines, kids will learn that drawing cartoons is easier than you can imagine! Cost for the class includes all art materials needed. FUNdamentals of Basketball, Dominion Trail PTA We will spend the first half of class working on basic fundamentals and the second half playing different basketball games including 1 on 1, 3 on 3, and 5 on 5. This class will be taught by former college player and Seton Hill University Hall of Fame Inductee Gina Lindenfeldar. She brings 10+ years of basketball coaching experience. Sets, costumes, memorizing lines and actions are not the focus of this “theater style”, rather it is on each performer’s words and expressions. Benefits to the performers include: improved reading fluency through repetitive readings of the text, increased expression while reading aloud, comprehension of the story line, and building confidence in student’s reading. The goal of this program is to promote physical fitness and lifetime wellness. "Jumping Jacks" will also provide opportunities for positive social interaction, team building and leadership skills. For questions about scholarships please contact vpeducation@forthuntpta.org Fencing For Young Jedi I - Nova Fencing Club - $145 Fencing for Young Jedi classes are conducted in the discipline of epee. We use standard fencing gear currently approved by and meets all safety requirements of US Fencing Organization. Although we use actual fencing foils to conduct our classes - foils are lighter, more flexible, and are easier for younger kids to handle - we teach the foundational skills in epee. Classes focus on introduction and reinforcements of the fundamentals of fencing including footwork, handwork, strategy and rules of fencing. Students will learn and reinforce various fencing movements and actions and will learn new actions and combinations. These one hour classes include group exercises as well as drills in pairs and bouting. Skills are reinforced with age-appropriate games and activities that build conditioning, speed and endurance while emphasizing critical thinking and quick decision-making. At the end of the session a tournament will be held at Nova Fencing Club using electric fencing equipment, followed by Glow-in-the-Dark fencing. Fencing for Young Jedi is appropriate for both beginning and continuing fencers. Snack Attack - Tiny Chefs - $169 This session, students will push the limits on the snack concept and prepare a variety of wholesome, delicious, and unique nibbles. This is not your mother's PB&J! Chefs will prepare a variety of bite-sized munchies like chicken salad cups, homemade granola bars, veggie nachos, roasted red pepper hummus with homemade pita chips, and more. No one will go hungry this class! Silver Knights Chess - Silver Knights Enrichment - $115 Learn chess from a Silver Knights chess coach! State and national champions have come from our programs, but most of our students are just looking to have fun! Class time is split between lesson and play. Lessons range from learning the rules to advanced tournament strategies, depending on the student's skill level. Play time is structured to pair each student against an opponent of similar skill. All grades and skill levels are welcome. Silver Knights will supply all the equipment during chess club. Students will have the opportunity to play in tournaments. Parkour - Urban Evolution - $182 Parkour is a training methodology which focuses on movement in both natural and urban environments. The focus is to move over, under, around, and through obstacles elegantly, and with efficiency. It’s not strictly defined by any particular workout or conditioning regimen. It’s more about finding the way to keep improving and eventually reach your greatest physical potential. And that’s what makes it so great! Your only opponent here is yourself. Your competition is you! So it does have its philosophical side, but here at Urban Evolution, we’ve come up a variety of ways to challenge you and hone your skills in a safe and fun environment. This includes some useful body-weight conditioning exercises, jumping and landing with precision, developing safe rolling habits, and numerous techniques for vaulting over obstacles

Our mission is simple: to help teach children to love everything about food and cooking, eating delicious and healthful dishes, learning about different cultures and stories behind the food. Our chefs-in-training will learn how to make a variety of healthy, delicious and fun seasonal recipes. We will learn about herbs, spices and how they add flavor and aroma to the dishes. Our little chefs will "travel" to new countries and learn about their cuisines and cultures. We will master cooking safety, slicing, dicing, chopping, folding, baking, zesting, mixing and more. Robotics & Visual Coding with LEGO Ev3 - C3 Cyber Club Powered by the LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Education Ev3 Base Set and Software, our Lego Robotics class combines the exciting world of Lego with programming to manipulate and program your own personal robot. Learn how to use the simple but powerful software to create commands with drag and-drop visual programming. Configure different sensors that track motion, light, & touch to create the ultimate robot! Students will work together as a small team of young engineers to build and program their designs. This class is great for children who are hands on and like working together in teams. Our enriching and time-tested curriculum is designed not only to teach acting skills, but also to build student confidence, encourage teamwork, and bolster public speaking skills. Drama Kids highly trained teachers motivate and inspire the students to become articulate communicators through enthusiastic participation in a wide range of creative activities including speech, creative movement, and improvisation. It can run for as little as 6 weeks or the entire school year. If we run for the full school year, in the fall, we teach individual lessons each week focusing on skills like projection, articulation, improvisation, characterization, and stage presence. In the spring, we put all of the skills we've learned to use as we start our spring play! The kids are given scripts and roles and spend the spring classes rehearsing for their performance. The program culminates in May with a full performance of the play, complete with costumes, sets, and an audience of family and friends. Space is limited for the class. Doctor! - Little Medical School In this course students will learn about, and use, tools that real doctors use, understand how the heart, lungs, and the process of digestion work through discussion and role playing, and be able to identify the organs of the body as well as learning how to suture, tie surgical knots, and role-play surgery. In the 7 week course students will learn the names of the major bones and what they are made of and make a model of a bone. Students go home with a real stethoscope, disposable lab coat, physical exam form, heart worksheet, Human Body worksheet/sticker set, balloon, gloves, mask, sutures, diploma. Game Club with Ms. Amani (1st - 3rd) - HFES PTA Come learn and play a variety of logic and skill games with each other. Play independently or with a small group (depending on game). Educational but a ton of fun to learn and play! Filmmaking - Fairfax Collegiate Students learn to plan, write, shoot, edit, and complete post-production on a digital video short film. Students learn about the basics of film, shot composition, scripting, storyboarding, and the pre-production phase of filmmaking. Students then move on to act out scripts and shoot the film using boom mics, and professional Panasonic DVX- 100 digital video cameras. Students edit their film using iMovie, add music and credits, complete postproduction, and export the film to a private Vimeo account for home viewing. Mad Scientists with Ms. Anderson - HFES PTA Mad Science allows children to learn through discovery with unique hands-on activities, and amazing demonstrations that explore the concepts of physics and chemistry. KidzArt - KidzArt Whether your child is a budding Michelangelo or is still drawing stick figures, KidzArt will give them the skills and confidence to create artwork they are proud of. Early Elementary Mandarin, International School of Languages -  ISL provides a well-rounded Mandarin program for those children in grades K-2 that are either starting to learn Mandarin or would like to continue adding to their knowledge of Mandarin. Apart from the language, children will learn some culture and traditions where Mandarin is spoken. During this program, students will be introduced to greetings and presentations, the characters, the family, the school, numbers, colors, shapes, sizes, animals, parts of the body and senses, professions, places in the city and many more! Topics rotate each session; therefore, students who register for later sessions will learn something different each time. Each student will receive handouts that they will be able to use in class and at home! Class sizes are small and taught by native speakers who are experienced teachers of the language and culture, engaging, fun and motivating. Student's diverse learning modalities are addressed through the following: Conversation, Music, Flashcards, Games, Videos, Art, and Storybooks. Instructors use every moment as an opportunity to motivate students to use and practice their speaking skills. During each program, we introduce a series of games and activities that develop the skills needed to learn a second language in a consistent and sequential manner. After every class, parents receive an email from their teacher that includes what was done in class and if there is any homework for the week. This email also includes any ideas to use at home with your child in order to solidify what they are learning in class. Characters, Crafts & Comedy! - Acting for Young People - $78 Combining acting skills, arts & crafts and improvisation, students will create memorable characters and their own short play. Our young actor-playwright-designers will present their work at the end of the session, sharing their characters' world and incorporating prop and costume pieces made in class. Fencing For Young Jedi II - Nova Fencing Club - $151 Fencing for Young Jedi classes are conducted in the discipline of epee. We use standard fencing gear currently approved by and meets all safety requirements of US Fencing Organization. Although we use actual fencing foils to conduct our classes - foils are lighter, more flexible, and are easier for younger kids to handle - we teach the foundational skills in epee. Classes focus on introduction and reinforcements of the fundamentals of fencing including footwork, handwork, strategy and rules of fencing. Students will learn and reinforce various fencing movements and actions and will learn new actions and combinations. These one hour classes include group exercises as well as drills in pairs and bouting. Skills are reinforced with age-appropriate games and activities that build conditioning, speed and endurance while emphasizing critical thinking and quick decision-making. At the end of the session a tournament will be held at Nova Fencing Club using electric fencing equipment, followed by Glow-in-the-Dark fencing. Fencing for Young Jedi is appropriate for both beginning and continuing fencers. Graphic Design - STEM exCEL - $143 Graphic Design will teach students to think about art in a pragmatic way so they may consider every aspect of the composition to create stronger pieces. Students will learn about typography, branding, positive/negative spacing, color theory, orientation, contrast and eye movement to create art with the user in mind. Our instructors will inspire and advise students to utilize these professional techniques in a fun and creative way, to create great works students will bring home with them at the end of the course. LEGO Structures: Jr. Structural Engineering - Ascendly - $135 In addition to teaching the core structural engineering concepts, this focuses upon the different buildings and structures and the engineering behind them and what that means to the students. Exercises include making skyscrapers, bridges, and castles, and more. Students will test their creations to ensure the meet our engineering standards, which might include castle strength, skyscraper stability, or bridge sturdiness.This courses transitions kids from simply following instructions to becoming problem formulators and problem solvers.The courses teaches engineering vocabulary, and construction skills.Exercises reinforce all aspects the Engineering Design Process, such as problem definition, planning, testing, and refining solutions. Students learn core structural engineering asking the right questions, how to build from simple blueprints, building to scale, to testing and refining.The course also encourages students to design their own use-cases that tell how their creation solves a problem and to then present those stories to the class.Each student uses their own kit.

Students who participate in KIDSCO will check in with a staff KIDSCO Staff Member before proceeding to their enrichment class location. If a instructor's class is held outside, Instructors will arrive at 3:25 pm for the first 2 weeks of the class to pick up the kindergarten students from their classrooms and escort them to the back gym door so that they are familiar with the dismissal process moving forward. Instructors will meet all other students (1st-5th grades) at the back gym door (by the playground entrance). A PTA Volunteer may be on-site to assist with transitions, if available. Our mission is simple: to help teach children to love everything about food cooking, eating delicious and healthful dishes, learning about different cultures and stories behind the food. Our chefs-in-training will learn how to make a variety of healthy, delicious and fun seasonal recipes. We will learn about herbs, spices and how they add flavor and aroma to the dishes. Our little chefs will "travel" to new countries and learn about their cuisines and cultures. We will master cooking safety, slicing, dicing, chopping, folding, baking, zesting, mixing and more. Winter session will have new recipes! Hip Hop Dance *Fortnite Edition* - Message in Motion $146 (K-5) Fortnite is a popular video game, but did you know there are more than *100* Fornite dances?! In this hip hop dance class we will not only be introducing hip hop dance basics and core technique including footwork, floorwork (breakdancing), popping and locking, and freezes, but the primary emphasis will be on fortnite dances and learning as many of them as we can throughout the session! Students will dance to the actual beats from the game that have made it popular, as well as some of the contemporary beats that it is closely associated with. Students will have a blast mastering their Fortnite dance skills and have fun dancing with their peers in this high energy class. Robotics: Busybots - Silver Knights $190 (1-5) Silver Knights Robotics uses LEGO® WeDo 2.0 in our enrichment classes. Each session includes different projects so material doesn’t repeat. In our BusyBots unit, kids will examine bots that are taking care of business. Most robots are designed to do a job and the bots in this unit all have work to do! Build a machine to test how earthquake-proof a structure is; build a gondola lift and a farm harvester. We’ll even build a fishing pole because sometimes you need a break from work! Awesome Artists - Kids Create $127 (K-5) This fun and colorful program offers a wide variety of different Arts & Crafts projects to last the entire school year! Kids will engage in exciting art projects each week, exploring different materials, art mediums and techniques. Beginner Ensemble (Piano, Guitar, Violin & Drums) - Learn Now Music $178 (K-5) Students will participate in an beginner ensemble music group. If an instructor is late, then the EM On-site Coordinator will assist in taking care of the students until the instructor arrives and/or bring the students to the enrichment room if possible!

Snack Attack - Tiny Chefs - $219 This week students will push the limits on the snack concept and prepare a variety of wholesome, delicious, and unique nibbles. This is not your mother’s PB&J! Chefs will prepare a variety of bite-sized munchies like chicken salad cups, homemade granola bars, veggie nachos, roasted red pepper hummus with homemade pita chips, and more. No one will go hungry this week! Early Elementary Mandarin - Intl. School of Languages - $181 ISL provides a well-rounded Mandarin program for those children in grades K-2 that are either starting to learn Mandarin or would like to continue adding to their knowledge of Mandarin. Apart from the language, children will learn some culture and traditions where Mandarin is spoken. During this program, students will be introduced to greetings and presentations, the characters, the family, the school, numbers, colors, shapes, sizes, animals, parts of the body and senses, professions, places in the city and many more! Topics rotate each session; therefore, students who register for later sessions will learn something different each time. Each student will receive handouts that they will be able to use in class and at home! Class sizes are small and taught by native speakers who are experienced teachers of the language and culture, engaging, fun and motivating. Students’ diverse learning modalities are addressed through the following: Conversation, Music, Flashcards, Games, Videos, Art, and Storybooks. Instructors use every moment as an opportunity to motivate students to use and practice their speaking skills. During each program, we introduce a series of games and activities that develop the skills needed to learn a second language in a consistent and sequential manner. After every class, parents receive an email from their teacher that includes what was done in class and if there is any homework for the week. This email also includes any ideas to use at home with your child in order to solidify what they are learning in class. EV3 Robotics Club - Fairfax Collegiate - $205 This club focuses on LEGO's EV3 robotics platform. Students design, construct, and program their robots to perform in sensor-based challenges, as well as robotic competitions. Initial student projects include hill climbing, beacon retrieval, color sensor navigation, and robot combat. Advanced programming and more complex robotics tasks are available for students ready for additional challenges. Students with any level of robotics experience are welcome to join. Sports & Games - Sports and Games for Kids, LLC - $146 Come join the fun! Learn the fundamentals of team sports including soccer, basketball, flag football, team handball, kickball, hockey, and volleyball. In addition to playing the sports listed, we will play various games such as scramble, friendship tag, pin dodge, battleship, star wars, steal the bacon, monster ball, capture the flag, sharks and minnows, catch-up, mat ball and more. Children can release some energy, get some exercise, learn new sports and games, and socialize with other children. Values such as sportsmanship, teamwork, sharing, and consideration of others will be stressed. Comic Book Illustration - STEM exCEL - $218 Let students explore the incredible world of Comic Book Illustration and learn to take their creativity to a whole new level! Students will learn about character development, storyboarding, panelling, story design, color theory and how to hone their art style. Instructors will teach students how to create comics using tradition art along with digital software, so they may work comfortably in whichever medium they prefer. By the end of the course, each student will leave with their very own comic book they created in class, along with a strong introduction to digital art processes and comic composition concepts. Silver Knights Chess - Silver Knights Enrichment - $172 Learn chess from a Silver Knights chess coach! State and national champions have come from our programs, but most of our students are just looking to have fun! Class time is split between lesson and play. Lessons range from learning the rules to advanced tournament strategies, depending on the student's skill level. Play time is structured to pair each student against an opponent of similar skill. All grades and skill levels are welcome. Silver Knights will supply all the equipment during chess club. Students will have the opportunity to play in tournaments. Glow Light Dance Party - Kids in Motion - $166 Offered by Kids in Motion, this exciting one-of-a kind class takes the great music and dance moves from our Zumba, Hip Hop, and other dance fitness classes, but we switch it up to include strobe lights! This class will be set in a creative dance environment where the students will spend the class learning different dances to kid friendly songs and dance moves. Children are provided with mini finger flashlights and the teacher uses strobe lights to create a glow light dance party! Children do get a work out from this class. Instructors are certified Zumba Kids instructors through Zumba International, which certifies them to teach 4-12 year old children, or they are experienced Hip Hop/Dance instructors. Using Minecraft's Redstone blocks, which act as wires on a breadboard, students can build constructs representing electrical circuits and simple computer projects that are built in the real world. This course is a great precursor to understand real circuitry, electronics and electrical theory. This course allows students to gain an understanding of how computers are processing commands as they move on to other computer science studies, and take home their Redstone creations at the ends of the course.
