Electronics with Minecraft Redstone - STEM exCEL -

STEM exCEL's Electronics with Minecraft Redstone allows students to explore electronics in a virtual world with essentially infinite resources. Using Minecraft's Redstone blocks, which act as wires on a breadboard, students can build constructs representing electrical circuits and simple computer projects that are built in the real world. This course is a great precursor to understand real circuitry, electronics and electrical theory. This course allows students to gain an understanding of how computers are processing commands as they move on to other computer science studies, and take home their Redstone creations at the ends of the course.

Take the Stage - Acting for Young People -

Grades K-2/younger grade range: Students will learn the fundamentals of acting, build confidence, and use critical thinking and teamwork as they develop their actor's toolbox through theater games and acting exercises. They will apply these skills to an ensemble performance piece presented on the last day of class. Great for new and returning students with any level of experience.

Grades 3-6/mid-older grade range: Students will use their own unique qualities as they learn to act, using theater games, improvisation, storytelling, and text. Through individual and group activities young actors will build their actor's toolbox, gain confidence, and each will make a significant contribution to the final presentation held on the last day of class. Great for new or returning students with any level of experience.

Silver Knights Chess - Silver Knights Enrichment -

Learn chess from a Silver Knights chess coach! State and national champions have come from our programs, but most of our students are just looking to have fun! Class time is split between lesson and play. Lessons range from learning the rules to advanced tournament strategies, depending on the student's skill level. Play time is structured to pair each student against an opponent of similar skill. All grades and skill levels are welcome. Silver Knights will supply all the equipment during chess club. Students will have the opportunity to play in tournaments.

Robotics: Aqua Bots - Silver Knights Enrichment

Silver Knights Robotics uses LEGO® WeDo 2.0 in our enrichment classes. Each session includes different projects so material doesn’t repeat. While they don’t actually go in the water (those pesky electronics!), these bots are inspired by what you will find in or on our oceans, rivers, and beaches. Build a dune buggy, a floodgate, a dolphin and more! Create your own sea monster with waving tentacles on the last day!

STOCK MARKET CLUB - SPARK Business Academy -

Come and learn how investors make (and lose) money in the stock market and how you can start investing successfully at a young age! In this hands-on class, students use a cool stock-trading simulation tool with real-time market data to build a $100,000 stock portfolio, “learning by doing.” This practical experience empowers campers with the tools and mindset to face future investment decisions with confidence and "buy low, sell high"! A solid foundation for successful future investors!

RunFit Kidz -

RunFit Kidz is proud to be back at West Springfield Elementary School this Spring. RunFit Kidz is unlike any other running program as our professional coaches understand the unique needs of young runners. We believe an early foundation of fitness will lead to a lifetime of healthy habits. Each class will include instruction on running mechanics, strength training, nutrition, pacing and goal setting. All of these will be taught through games while our participants build self-esteem, confidence and determination. All of our hard-work will be celebrated with a 5K at the end of the season. Along with the 7-weeks of training each participant will receive mileage milestone tokens, t-shirt, medals and post-5K celebration. Note: due to the 5K culminating event we do not offer make-up classes due to school closure.

Coding: Game Design- Maze & Monsters Silver Knights

Design your own video games in the Game Design: Mazes and Monsters unit. Using Scratch 3 digital tools, create your own maze games, platformers, and side scrollers. Use the Silver Knights curriculum to learn how to code and then add more excitement to your games with amazing graphics, sounds, game add-ons like leveling up, gravity variables, and scores! Level up!

Sport Mix - Kids in Motion

Offered by Kids in Motion, Sports Mix includes Run Club, Flag Football, Basketball and Soccer for K-3 boys and girls. During basketball, flag football, and soccer, athletes start with warm ups, move on to learn the basics of dribbling, shooting, passing, and catching, and then form team to scrimmage. Coaches engage the kids in super fun running warm ups, such as sharks and minnows, tag games, and team racing competitions at the start of class. During Run Club, students run for fun and practice the fundamentals of walking, power walking, jogging, running and sprinting so they can learn to pace themselves and run further each class. Sports Mix is all about fun fitness and learning new skills. It's a great way to be active and constructive after the school day!

Web Design - StemExCEL

Website Design is a course that teaches the art and design side of web development. By teaching students about user experience, use of type and color, art placement and usage, text and graphics effects, interface design and utilizing negative space, they will learn to think about aesthetics differently when creating websites. Our instructors will be with each student during their process, so they may create websites unique to who they are and what they like. By the end of the class the students will each have a beautiful and impressive website of their own.

POP Golf - OverTime Athletics

POP GOLF programs are a great introduction to the wonderful game of golf. Our program has players implementing the skills they have been taught including GRIP, STANCE, AIM, SWING, and PUTTING. Players rotate through stations and contests that keep them fist pumping all day long. Players will “walk the course” to test their skills on the “SNAG Golf Trail” and the “Goofy Golf Putt-Putt Course” to see how they stack up. We have taken the fastest growing game in the world (GOLF) and made it “ready to use” for all beginners and youth players with our SNAG Golf Trail, and we have taken the most popular activity for kids (Miniature Golf/Putt-Putt) and put our own spin on it with our Goofy Golf Course. The combination is a hole in one!
