Tennis - USTA

Did you ever wonder how players can hit a ball hard and why they add spin? Why tennis courts have different surfaces or even why a tennis ball has fuzz? What does math and science have to do with sports at all? The US Tennis Association will help students to answer these questions and more through our TGA (Teach. Grow. Achieve.) STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) program! We will run fun, interactive tennis-themed experiments (e.g. inclined planes, ball launchers, balloon rockets) in a classroom setting that will teach many important concepts applicable to this lifelong sport as well as other areas of our lives. Experiment materials and prizes are provided to students.

LEGO WeDo Robotics -  Fairfax Collegiate

WeDo Robotics introduces young students to simple robotics systems in a fun and engaging way. Students will build LEGO models with functional motors and sensors, and learn how to control them with basic programming skills. Basic engineering concepts will be explored and a new robot model will be built and explored each class period. Returning students looking for additional WeDo robotics challenges will use an expanded construction set to build more complex mechanisms and robots, and use their innovation and critical thinking skills to engineer their own creative solutions to exciting challenges.

Running Club - Love the Ball

How Fast can YOU be? Come and find out. LTB will use our SAQ (Speed, Agility, Quickness) curriculum to improve techniques in athletic skill development, agility and explosiveness. Our program will benefit all players who participate in soccer, basketball, tennis, field hockey, flag football, field hockey and most of all track and field. Drills will improve an athletes ability to move, change direction, accelerate, move laterally, and co-ordinate their feet when running full speed.
