The Timber Lane PTA  is excited to offer an after school enrichment program for its students! We have three exciting sessions planned - Fall, Winter and Spring - with lots of great classes to choose from in each one. On this site you'll find all the information about program procedures, class descriptions and details you need to participate. Whether you are looking for sports, drama, arts and crafts, technology, science or hobbies, there's something here for everyone.

Transition from school to enrichment program:

Students are dismissed directly to their enrichment locations where Instructors should be waiting to meet them. Kindergarten students are escorted by Timber Lane staff.

"Minute to Win It' - Science Games - Curiosity Zone of Ashburn - $137

Challenge your mind and body in this class full of nonstop action with races, games and mind-bending puzzles! We'll explore volcanos, earthquakes, gases, rocks, minerals and lots more. There is a game for every science concept, and a science concept for every game – so why not play while you learn? Educational value: creative thinking, problem solving, teamwork, chemistry, physics, life science and engineering.

Pop Star Dance Party - Kids in Motion - $96

Offered by Kids in Motion, this exciting class takes the great music and dance moves of Pop stars from yesterday and today. Just to name a few this class features a variety of music from many music icons which may include Michael Jackson the King of Pop, Beyonce, Brittney Spears, Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Will I Am and many more. This class will be set in a creative dance environment where the students will spend the class learning different dances to hit songs incorporating hip-hop, creative movement and Zumba dance styles. If you love Pop Icons from many different decades and can’t get enough of their great music and dance moves, then this is the class for you!

Pottery Class - Mudskippers Pottery - $116

Let Mudskippers Pottery bring the mud to your school! We are a family run professional studio that specializes in PTA sponsored after school ceramics education. Our instructors will expand students' knowledge and creativity. Each project is grounded in an historical artwork, submersing students in history and culture. Students will hone their fine motor skills through hand building and glazing pottery while expressing their unique personal vision. The 3D medium will teach them to use problem solving skills to address form and structure. Mudskippers Pottery will bring their convenient mobile studio to your school with all the advantages of a professional studio.

Fencing - Nova Fencing Club - $144

Fencing classes are conducted in the discipline of epee. We use standard fencing gear currently approved by and meets all safety requirements of US Fencing Organization. Although we use actual fencing foils to conduct our classes - foils are lighter, more flexible, and are easier for younger kids to handle - we teach the foundational skills in epee. Classes focus on introduction and reinforcements of the fundamentals of fencing including footwork, handwork, strategy and rules of fencing. Students will learn and reinforce various fencing movements and actions and will learn new actions and combinations. These one hour classes include group exercises as well as drills in pairs and bouting. Skills are reinforced with age-appropriate games and activities that build conditioning, speed and endurance while emphasizing critical thinking and quick decision-making. At the end of the session a tournament will be held at Nova Fencing Club using electric fencing equipment, followed by Glow-in-the-Dark fencing. Fencing is appropriate for both beginning and continuing fencers.

Beginner Ensemble (Piano, Guitar, Violin & Drum) - Learn Now Music - $139

Students will participate in an beginner ensemble music group. Students may choose which instrument to play during the session – piano, guitar, violin or drums. Students will learn about the instrument, how to read musical notation as well as how to participate in a group. Students are provided with FREE instrument rentals to TAKE HOME with them for the entire session! Parents will be invited to a “Parent Day” on the last day of class. Rental Instruments must be returned at the last class.
