About Nottingham Elementary

REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED. PLEASE CHECK BACK ON DEC. 4TH AT 7:30AM FOR WINTER SESSION REGISTRATION

The Nottingham PTA is excited to offer an after school enrichment program for its students! We have three exciting sessions planned - Fall, Winter and Spring - with lots of great classes to choose from in each one. On this site you'll find all the information about program procedures, class descriptions and details you need to participate. Whether you are looking for sports, drama, arts and crafts, technology, science or hobbies, there's something here for everyone. SO go exploring and see what you want to learn!

Transition from school to enrichment programs:

Students enrolled in enrichment will proceed from their regular classes to the gym where the Instructor will check them in. Instructors are expected to supervise students in the gym as they arrive for enrichment. After taking attendance (see below), Instructors will escort students to their class locations where they will be able to set up for class while students wait and/or assist them. If an instructor is late, then the EM On-site Coordinator will assist in taking care of the students until the instructor arrives and/or bring the students to the enrichment room if possible.

Students also role-play as CEOs for leading companies (Apple, Under Armour, Amazon, Tesla, Coke) and work in groups to make strategic recommendations to address real business issues. Students enhance their problem-solving skills, develop business savvy and cultivate a strategic mindset as future leaders. Note: This club is structured as 3 independent and different modules to be offered year-round (preferred) or individually in the fall, winter or spring. “Youth who are taught about entrepreneurship show a positive change in attitude and strong success orientation, and are more likely to be focused on academic and professional achievements and aspirations and leadership.” Harvard School of Education (Reuters, 10/03/2008)

Silver Knights Robotics: WheelieBots, Silver Knights Enrichment - $213

Silver Knights Robotics uses LEGO® WeDo 2.0 in our enrichment classes. Each session includes different projects so material doesn’t repeat. WheelieBots is full of robots with, you guessed it, wheels! Build bots to roll and race. Learn how gear changes can make your rolling wonder faster or more powerful. In this fun unit you will build a mini- truck, the Sphinx, and the Wall Tracer which actually traces around any object!

Guitar Club, FineArtsMatter - $195

It’s time to rock with Guitar Club!

Guitar Club gives students in 2nd grade and UP the chance to get their hands on a ‘real’ guitar and play exciting music with their friends! Using our Three-year, Three-tier curriculum, students will learn songs ranging from fun classic rock to contemporary pop songs. Our experienced and encouraging teachers do a great job with both beginning and advanced students, so no experience is necessary to have fun in our class. Each session includes a brand new set of songs to learn from a variety of styles, and ends with an exciting Final Performance for family and friends! Learn more at www.fineartsmatter.com

Early Elementary French, International School of Languages - $204

ISL provides a well-rounded French program for those children in grades K-2 that are either starting to learn French or would like to continue adding to their knowledge of French. Apart from the language, children will learn some culture, and traditions where French is spoken. During this program, students will be introduced to greetings and presentations, the alphabet, the family, the school, numbers, colors, shapes, sizes, animals, parts of the body and senses, professions, places in the city and many more! Topics rotate each session; therefore, students who register for later sessions will learn something different each time. Each student will receive handouts that they will be able to use in class and at home!

Class sizes are small and taught by native speakers who are experienced teachers of the language and culture, engaging, fun and motivating. Students’ diverse learning modalities are addressed through the following: Conversation, Music, Flashcards, Games, Videos, Art, and Storybooks. Instructors use every moment as an opportunity to motivate students to use and practice their speaking skills. During each program, we introduce a series of games and activities that develop the skills needed to learn a second language in a consistent and sequential manner.

After every class, parents receive an email from their teacher that includes what was done in class and if there is any homework for the week. This email also includes any ideas to use at home with your child in order to solidify what they are learning in class.

Sports Tumbling/Yoga, Ignite Kids Club - $173

Ignite Sports Tumbling/Yoga is designed to teach and develop the basics of tumbling and yoga in a safe and fun environment. Through fitness skills, tumbling skills, exciting exercise games, and Yoga poses/challenges each participant will build confidence, coordination, and learn how to tumble and stretch safely while having a blast! Each child learns at their own pace and our coach works with each child to ensure continued progress! Classes are 60 minutes and includes both yoga and tumbling!

Intro to Game Design, STEM exCEL - $166

Intro to Game Design builds upon the fundamentals and concepts of game design within a real game engine many indie development teams currently use. Students learn to design and build their own game from the ground up, while learning 2D game art and programming logic with the engine’s integrated art software and easy-to-use events system, fit for beginners through advanced learners alike. Our instructors help students develop games individually, so students have the freedom to create at their pace while focusing on their creative interests. The final product is their own game that can be played on any computer, and the know-how to continue their game development at home.

This class may be tailored to work with younger or older students. With lots of hands-on activities and individualized attention, we make sure the students are able to absorb and retain the information in a supportive, interactive and--most importantly--fun way.

For each seasonal session (Fall, Winter & Spring), we recommend selecting 2 courses, a 1st-4th course and a 3rd-6th course. This is recommended to ensure you are providing a diverse offering to your community as well as providing full 1st-6th grade coverage which is especially convenient for multi-sibling households.

Let's Be Creative, Wendy Kramer - $217

Creating is a fun and exciting way for children to express themselves. Lines, shapes, shading, space and more will be explored in class. Through the use of active imagination, stories, and visual references, students will experience how these elements of drawing magically give form to themes from nature, everyday life, and the inner world of your child. Monsters, magical landscapes, autumn leaves, animals and more are among just some of the very fun themes used as springboards to stimulate creativity and excite the imagination. Children are always encouraged to explore themes of their own choosing. If the size of the class permits, students will
