We have three exciting sessions planned - Fall, Winter and Spring - with lots of great classes to choose from in each one. PATTIE SPRING 2020 CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Cartoon Creations, ABRAKADOODLE - PWC
Everyone loves a little whimsy! Join the Drawsters cartooning adventure!
Abrakadoodle's one-of-a-kind drawing program will introduce young artists to the creative world of cartooning by launching imaginations with spaceships and rockets, bouncing with Balloon People, and dreaming about what animals love. Students will learn about symbolism on welcome flags, explore music in the whimsical art of Sandra Boynton, and create fun geometric characters in the tradition of kid-friendly cartoon artist Ed Emberley. And no cartooning adventure is complete without the art of the comic strip! Each student will create his or her own comic frame featuring the traditional elements of characters and dialogue. Sequential lessons allow students to build drawing skills while gaining confidence.
Silver Knights Chess - Silver Knights Enrichment
Learn chess from a Silver Knights chess coach! State and national champions have come from our programs, but most of our students are just looking to have fun! Class time is split between lesson and play. Lessons range from learning the rules to advanced tournament strategies, depending on the student's skill level. Play time is structured to pair each student against an opponent of similar skill. All grades and skill levels are welcome. Silver Knights will supply all the equipment during chess club. Students will have the opportunity to play in tournaments.
Hip Hop, All That & Jazz
This class will introduce young students' to the basic vocabulary and style of hip hop movement. Hip Hop is about personal style and expression. This high energy class can be taught to anyone with a passion to move, so no dance experience is required.
Robotics: BusyBots, Silver Knights Enrichment
Silver Knights Robotics uses LEGO® WeDo 2.0 in our enrichment classes. Each session includes different projects so material doesn’t repeat. In our BusyBots unit, kids will examine bots that are taking care of business. Most robots are designed to do a job and the bots in this unit all have work to do! Build a machine to test how earthquake-proof a structure is; build a gondola lift and a farm harvester. We’ll even build a fishing pole because sometimes you need a break from work!
Cooking, iCook
iCook is a really fun, hands-on after-school cooking program for children. Our mission is simple: to help teach children to love everything about food, cooking, eating delicious and healthful dishes, learning about different cultures and stories behind the food.
Our chefs-in-training will learn how to make a variety of healthy, delicious and fun seasonal recipes. We will learn about herbs, spices and how they add flavor and aroma to the dishes. Our little chefs will "travel" to new countries and learn about their cuisines and cultures. We will master cooking safety, slicing, dicing, chopping, folding, baking, zesting, mixing and more.
Flag Football, Love the Ball Sports.
Flag football is the fun way to play the great sports, no helmets, no pads and no tackling means zero injuries and tons of FUN. Tons of tag games are played such as capture the flag, farmers and foxes, sharks and minnows to increase speed and agility. Passing, throwing and catching drills are also played.
