The Haymarket PTO is excited to offer an after school enrichment program for its students! We have two exciting sessions planned - Fall and Spring - with lots of great classes to choose from in each one. On this site you'll find all the information about program procedures, class descriptions and details you need to participate. Whether you are looking for sports, drama, arts and crafts, technology, science or hobbies, there's something here for everyone. Transition from school to enrichment programs:

Morning Classes: Instructors will meet students who are dropped off in the front lobby vestibule and then pick up SACC students from the gym. Afternoon Classes: All students participating in enrichment classes will be dismissed to the library. Instructors should pick up their students from the library, and then proceed to the gym to pick up students who participate in SACC.

HAYMARKET WINTER 2020 CLASS DESCRIPTIONS & CLASS PRICES

Archery, Dutrow (Tuesday)

Students will be learning archery skills and techniques. 

Haymarket Hoops, Pennel

This basketball program will work with players on fundamental skill development and help each player improve their game. Skills included: passing, dribbling, and shooting.

Krafty Kids, McBarron/Anderson

Age appropriate arts and crafts projects using mixed materials and media, including fabrics, paints, household finds, and nature materials. Many projects will reflect the seasons and holidays. Most weeks will produce more than one project. 

Mine, Craft, Build Adventure Game Using LEGOS - Play-Well TEKnologies 

Bring Minecraft to life using LEGO! Resourcefulness, creativity, and cooperation come together in this unique building adventure game; roll the dice to mine for resources, and use these resources to build special items to help in our adventures! Build a Zoo, create a Medieval Castle, and design a Tree House Village! This LEGO experience is an original game designed by Play-Well instructors inspired by the popular game, Minecraft. Students will have a blast, even without any prior experience with Minecraft or LEGO.

Little Veterinarian School - Who Let the Dogs Out? - Little Medical School (8 Weeks)

In this course students will learn how to make important measurements, make assessments and perform an exam, understand the importance of proper nutrition and hydration, discuss what to do when a dog is injured, what are lacerations and proper care of stitches, how to inspect for and properly remove ticks, how to give medicine to a dog, the importance of vaccinations, and how the body builds immunities, and be informed on the different types of Veterinarians. The seven week course will include dog body language and the eight week course will include the dogs eye and how they see. Students go home with a disposable lab coat, plush dog, dog bandana, adoption certificate, dog bowl, dog bone cookie cutter and recipe card, gloves, mask, sutures, syringe, tape measure, journal, diploma.

STEAM Club, Qureshi

Students will be engaged in hands-on activities that focus on and integrate concepts across science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM). We will learn how science works, how to build something as an engineer, as well as the technology aspect. Students love creating their own projects and learning something new every class!

Tennis, USTA Mid-Atlantic - PWC (3rd - 5th)

The United States Tennis Association Mid-Atlantic Section (USTA MAS) proudly presents TGA Premier Youth Tennis, the first and only national tennis enrichment program in the country. Students will develop tennis skills utilizing kid-friendly equipment in a play-to-learn style that gets them rallying and having fun right away. In addition, students will learn relevant character development and STEM skills such as sportsmanship, respect, math, science, technology, and more. Elementary school programs include a five-level progression system. All first time students receive a wristband, a hat, and a student handbook. Program is taught by USTA-trained and background-screened coaches utilizing the most current teaching methodology. All tennis equipment is provided (e.g. racquets, balls, pop up nets).

Creative Clay, Rop

Come enjoy the 3-D medium of clay! We will create projects that teach the skills of various hand building techniques with clay. The projects will be taught in various stages of: creating and molding, smoothing and adding details to the surface, and finally glazing or final application of paint.

Math 24, Schenck (7 Weeks)

Math Challenge 24 is a competitive card game, which has students focusing on patterns, math facts and functions to create equations and solutions in their heads. The competition is fast-paced, fun and challenges high-achieving math students to extend their mental math abilities. Prince William County Schools hosts an annual Challenge 24 Competition in April, in which Haymarket looks forward to sending student representatives.

Robotics: ZooBots, Silver Knights Enrichment

Silver Knights Robotics uses LEGO® WeDo 2.0 in our enrichment classes. Each session includes different projects so material doesn’t repeat. ZooBots is a unit filled with animal bots that roll, waddle, walk and talk. Create the penguin on your first day of the club and progress to crocodiles, mudskippers, and gorillas. Each week students make something new and learn how gears, simple machines and LEGO code work together to make something FUN! ZooBots is a unit filled with animal bots that roll, waddle, walk and talk. Running Club, Teufel/Pregnall

Join Ms. Teufel and Ms. Pregnall as they help students develop a love for running and learn proper stretching techniques.

Slime Club, Theal

They are making different kids of slime. They are learning the science about how to condense and change things. Kids love making slime and playing with it!

Chess, Silver Knights Enrichment

Learn chess from a Silver Knights chess coach! State and national champions have come from our programs, but most of our students are just looking to have fun! Class time is split between lesson and play. Lessons range from learning the rules to advanced tournament strategies, depending on the student's skill level. Play time is structured to pair each student against an opponent of similar skill. All grades and skill levels are welcome. Silver Knights will supply all the equipment during chess club. Students will have the opportunity to play in tournaments.

Hip Hop Fortnite Edition, Message in Motion

Fortnite is a popular video game, but did you know there are more than *100* Fornite dances?! In this hip hop dance class we will not only be introducing hip hop dance basics and core technique including footwork, floorwork (breakdancing), popping and locking, and freezes, but the primary emphasis will be on fortnite dances and learning as many of them as we can throughout the session! Students will dance to the actual beats from the game that have made it popular, as well as some of the contemporary beats that it is closely associated with. Students will have a blast mastering their Fortnite dance skills and have fun dancing with their peers in this high energy class.
