About Bristow Run Elementary

The Bristow Run PTO is excited to offer an after school enrichment program for its students! We have two exciting sessions planned - Fall and Winter - with lots of great classes to choose from in each one. On this site you'll find all the information about program procedures, class descriptions and details you need to participate. Whether you are looking for sports, drama, arts and crafts, technology, science or hobbies, there's something here for everyone. Transition from school to enrichment programs:

All students enrolled in enrichment are dismissed to the Cafeteria where Instructors will meet them. SACC students do not need to go to that program first.

Cheer, Cheers to You Enrichment Cheerleading - $101

Cheers to You is a fun recreational cheerleading class. We learn basic cheerleading arm motions, jumps, and dance routines set to music. Class fee includes Cheer T-shirt, matching hair bow, & award show! Our goal is to get active, include all students, and have school team spirit!

Doctor! Doctor!, Little Medical School - $161

In this course students will learn about, and use, tools that real doctors use, understand how the heart, lungs, and the process of digestion work through discussion and role playing, and be able to identify the organs of the body as well as learning how to suture, tie surgical knots, and role-play surgery. In the 7 week course students will learn the names of the major bones and what they are made of and make a model of a bone. 

Students go home with a real stethoscope, disposable lab coat, physical exam form, heart worksheet, Human Body worksheet/sticker set, balloon, gloves, mask, sutures, diploma.

Mine, Craft, Build Survival Game using LEGO® Materials, Play-Well TEKnologies - $142

Bring Minecraft to life using LEGO! Resourcefulness, creativity, and cooperation come together in this unique building adventure game; roll the dice to mine for resources, craft tools, and watch out for Creepers! This ultimate LEGO Minecraft experience is an original game designed by Play-Well instructors, using gameplay elements and characters inspired by the popular Minecraft video game. Students will have a blast, even without any prior experience with Minecraft or LEGO.

Cooking Classes by iCook, iCook After School - $195

iCook is a really fun, hands-on after-school cooking program for children. Our mission is simple: to help teach children to love everything about food - cooking, eating delicious and healthful dishes, learning about different cultures and stories behind the food. Our chefs-in-training will learn how to make a variety of healthy, delicious and fun seasonal recipes. We will learn about herbs, spices and how they add flavor and aroma to the dishes. Our little chefs will "travel" to new countries and learn about their cuisines and cultures. We will master cooking safety, slicing, dicing, chopping, folding, baking, zesting, mixing and more.

Basketball Blitz!, GamePoint Athletics - $96

Feel the rush of the most exciting basketball activities and game play! Participants will not only have tons of fun, but develop the basic skills needed to excel in 5 vs 5 competitive basketball games. Participants will work on all kinds of dribbling skills, passing, shooting, defense, and practicing proper offensive movement without the ball. All kids, regardless of skill level, will be challenged to improve their basketball abilities, and enjoy an NBA style playoff tournament!!

Beginner Ensemble (Piano, Guitar, Violin & Drum), Learn Now Music - $188

Students will participate in an beginner ensemble music group. Students may choose which instrument to play during the session – piano, guitar, violin or drums. Students will learn about the instrument, how to read musical notation as well as how to participate in a group. Students are provided with FREE instrument rentals to TAKE HOME with them for the entire session! Parents will be invited to a “Parent Day” on the last day of class. Rental Instruments must be returned at the last class.

Silver Knights Chess, Silver Knights Enrichment - $135

Learn chess from a Silver Knights chess coach! State and national champions have come from our programs, but most of our students are just looking to have fun! Class time is split between lesson and play. Lessons range from learning the rules to advanced tournament strategies, depending on the student's skill level. Play time is structured to pair each student against an opponent of similar skill. All grades and skill levels are welcome. Silver Knights will supply all the equipment during chess club. Students will have the opportunity to play in tournaments.

Intro to STEM using LEGO® Materials, Play-Well TEKnologies - $161

Tap into your imagination with tens of thousands of LEGO® parts! Build engineer-designed projects such as: Boats, Snowmobiles, Catapults, and Merry-Go-Rounds. Design and build as never before, and explore your craziest ideas in a supportive environment. Then use special pieces to create your own unique design! New and returning students can explore the endless creative possibilities of the LEGO® building system with the guidance of an experienced Play-Well instructor. There are no prerequisites for this course and each season's session will feature unique projects, STEM concepts, and new adventures!

Pottery Class, Mudskippers Pottery - $182

Let Mudskippers Pottery bring the mud to your school! We are a family run professional studio that specializes in PTA sponsored after school ceramics education. Our instructors will expand students' knowledge and creativity. Each project is grounded in an historical artwork, submersing students in history and culture. Students will hone their fine motor skills through hand building and glazing pottery while expressing their unique personal vision. The 3D medium will teach them to use problem solving skills to address form and structure. Mudskippers Pottery will bring their convenient mobile studio to your school with all the advantages of a professional studio.

Tennis, USTA Mid-Atlantic - PWC - $156

The United States Tennis Association Mid-Atlantic Section (USTA MAS) proudly presents TGA Premier Youth Tennis, the first and only national tennis enrichment program in the country. Students will develop tennis skills utilizing kid-friendly equipment in a play-to-learn style that gets them rallying and having fun right away. In addition, students will learn relevant character development and STEM skills such as sportsmanship, respect, math, science, technology, and more. Elementary school programs include a five-level progression system. All first time students receive a wristband, a hat, and a student handbook. Program is taught by USTA-trained and background-screened coaches utilizing the most current teaching methodology. All tennis equipment is provided (e.g. racquets, balls, pop up nets).
