Readers theater is a type of acting in which performers read scripts created from grade level-books or stories. Sets, costumes, memorizing lines and actions are not the focus of this “theater style”, rather it is on each performer’s words and expressions. Benefits to the performers include: improved reading fluency through repetitive readings of the text, increased expression while reading aloud, comprehension of the story line, and building confidence in student’s reading. The children will perform their reader theater scripts for the parents on the last day of this course!
