We have three exciting sessions planned - Fall, Winter and Spring - with lots of great classes to choose from in each one. Drawing, Young Rembrandts - $129
Make this a memorable winter by signing up your elementary child in a Young Rembrandts drawing class. Your child will learn about basic design and composition as they draw the Fish Below Ice and Great Wall of China. If your child is fond of sports, they will enjoy drawing our illustration featuring a Hockey Player. Besides strengthening your child's drawing and coloring skills, he or she will also learn about art history as we present lessons featuring master artists Leonardo Da Vinci and Franz Marc. Spanish, International School of Languages - $181 (K-2 class, 3-5 class)
ISL provides a well-rounded Spanish program for those children in grades K-2 OR 3-5 that are either starting to learn Spanish or would like to continue adding to their knowledge of Spanish. Apart from the language, children will learn some culture, and traditions where Spanish is spoken. During this program, students will be introduced to greetings and presentations, the alphabet, the family, the school, numbers, colors, shapes, sizes, animals, parts of the body and senses, professions, places in the city and many more! Topics rotate each session; therefore, students who register for later sessions will learn something different each time. Each student will receive handouts that they will be able to use in class and more! Class sizes are small and taught by native speakers who are experienced teachers of the language and culture, engaging, fun and motivating. Students’ diverse learning modalities are addressed through the following: Conversation, Music, Flashcards, Games, Videos, Art, and Storybooks. Instructors use every moment as an opportunity to motivate students to use and practice their speaking skills. During each program we introduce a series of games and activities that develop the skills needed to learn a second language in a consistent and sequential manner. After every class, parents receive an email from their teacher that includes what was done in class and if there is any homework for the week. This email also includes any ideas to use at home with your child in order to solidify what they are learning in class.
Robotics: BusyBots, Silver Knights Enrichment - $190
Silver Knights Robotics uses LEGO® WeDo 2.0 in our enrichment classes. Each session includes different projects so material doesn’t repeat. In our BusyBots unit, kids will examine bots that are taking care of business. Most robots are designed to do a job and the bots in this unit all have work to do! Build a machine to test how earthquake-proof a structure is; build a gondola lift and a farm harvester. We’ll even build a fishing pole because sometimes you need a break from work!
RCV Writes!, Sarah Wassner Flynn - $140
RCV Writes! invites students to discover self-expression, confidence, and fun through creative nonfiction writing. This weekly enrichment program will introduce students in grades 2-5 to the foundations of creative nonfiction writing. We will explore basic journalistic practices such as information gathering and interviewing while employing creative writing techniques to produce descriptive and engaging fact-based stories. Midway through the course,students will be encouraged to select a single subject or experience to focus on with end-goal of writing a short personal essay or mini memoir reflecting the elements explored in the class.
FUNdamentals of Acting, Imagination Stage - $167
In FUNdamentals of Acting, students focus on creating sustainable and believable characters and truthful actions for the stage. Students participate in a variety of fun exercises, which work on physical control, human behavior observations, and realistic actions and reactions. Through games and activities, students build a strong and caring ensemble with their fellow classmates in order to promote an environment of trust where they can effectively explore, make big choices, and take risks with characters! The end of the semester culminates in short scenes which allow them to apply the skills they have been learning throughout the semester. Parents are invited to observe the last 30 minutes of the last class for an informal sharing where students share what they have learned in class.
Chess Club, Silver Knights Enrichment, - $140
Learn chess from a Silver Knights chess coach! State and national champions have come from our programs, but most of our students are just looking to have fun! Class time is split between lesson and play. Lessons range from learning the rules to advanced tournament strategies, depending on the student's skill level. Play time is structured to pair each student against an opponent of similar skill. All grades and skill levels are welcome. Silver Knights will supply all the equipment during chess club. Students will have the opportunity to play in tournaments.
STEM After School Academy, STEM After School, - $210
Build different types of bridges, machines, solar powered model homes, cars and electrical devices such as FM radios, lie detectors, Automated streetlamps and having fun with flying saucers. This will provide an insight to the field field of structural, Mechanical, environmental and electrical engineering where we review how designs of systems come about. The goal is to expose the students to practical applications of science and engineering through stimulating hands-on projects.
Karate, Kaizen Karate - $155
This class is designed for all belt levels ages 5 -11. Students learn the basic levels of martial arts while participating in a fun, exciting atmosphere. Class is tailored to student’s individual needs and helps them grow to their fullest potential possible. Karate classes not only focus on instruction, but also learning valuable lessons related to discipline, motivation, self-control, and continual improvement.
Coding: Arcade Action, Silver Knights Enrichment - $190
Design your own arcade-style games in this fun club. Using Scratch 3 digital tools, create your own racing games, chase games and classic arcade games like pong, tank, and snake! Use the Silver Knights curriculum to learn how to code and then take your game to the next level with avatars, scores, health points, intros and outros! Game on!
Beginner Ensemble, Learn Now Music - $178
Students will participate in an beginner ensemble music group. Students may choose which instrument to play during the session – piano, guitar, violin or drums. Students will learn about the instrument, how to read musical notation as well as how to participate in a group. Students are provided with FREE instrument rentals to TAKE HOME with them for the entire session! Parents will be invited to a “Parent Day” on the last day of class. Rental Instruments must be returned at the last class.
Hip Hop Zumba, JST Athletics - $112
Step into the beat with the latest street dances and break a sweat with the international movements of Zumba! We teach new dances from each style every week and play fun movement games to keep classes exciting.
